The Arctic and Antarctic expeditionary centre "Polus" (centre "Pole"), founded in 2002, organizes polar expeditions. "Polus" is a travel department of the Association of Polar Explorers, supervised by Arthur Ñhilingarov (PhD in Geography, Hero of the Soviet Union title holder, Hero of the Russia title holder).
The main aims of EC POLUS
To create the basing of vital activity and total technical, juridical and other accompaniments of scientific, ecological, archeological, biological, technical, rescuing, tourist and another expedition in Artic and Antarctic regions.
To provide an effective presence for saving strategically and geopolitical interests of Russia in Antarctic.
The main tasks of EC POLUS
Directing the material and technical providing and inventory holdings, which are necessary for providing work of scientific, ecological, biological, technical, rescuing, tourist and another expeditions in Artic and Antarctic regions.
Providing total security of participants of an expedition.
Providing wide-ranging scientific experiments and researches of processes that are proceeding in the Arctic Ocean and its atmosphere.
Researches of processes of forming the climate and its changing.
Providing nature-conservative measures in coverage of any expeditions.
Application of new technology and materials in equipping of expeditions.
To render assistance to Frontier service of Russian Federation to protect the frontier of Russian Federation.
To cooperate on the security of economical and ecological interests of Russian in Artic and Antarctic.
To provide organizational, technical and juridical support of tourist firms while conducting tourist expeditions.
Preparation and realization of arrangements of providing the finance and investment support of work of expeditions in Artic and Antarctic.
Coordination of Russian and foreign organization’ and department’ interplay, those that are interested in conducting expeditions in Artic and Antarctic.

Engineering department
In every expedition of the engineering department of EC Polus carries out serious spade-work. Tasks of minimization of mass- overall characteristics of all elements of camp infrastructure. The main attention is given for raising the reliability of life support sets, and for convenience of use and delivery.
